FPL GW 23 Wildcard Team
Published: January 21, 2025Goalkeepers
In goal we start off with A. Becker (5.5) of Liverpool, which we are tripling up on because of their juicy upcoming double! Their defense has been elite level this season, and I would not want to go into the double without at least one of their defenders.
Check out the current state of fixtures using our Fixture Ticker - the teams difficulties are updated every day and give you a much clearer picture of the teams offensive and defensive strength than the official FDR (choose xG based FDR to enable!).
Valdimarsson (3.9) is our number two.
Defenders
Leading our back four this week is Alexander-Arnold (7.1). He seems to be finding his attacking form again as of late, so well done to those of you who held on to him!
Gabriel (6.4) follows up with a fantastic fixture against a poor Wolves squad.
While they haven’t been getting that many clean sheets as of late, their defensive numbers are still beyond the rest.
Stick with Arsenal’s defense and the returns will come.
Of Crystal Palace we have Munoz (4.8) featured. His attacking numbers have been crazy, even if they haven’t yet turned into actual returns. I’m confident they will come.
They also have the best defensive run of fixtures going forward.
Hall (5.0) has been SO GOOD for his owners! With Newcastle looking much improved, decent fixtures coming up, and Hall’s attacking threat, there’s not many better options than him.
Midfielders
On to the Midfielders!
Leading the line is of course the King of FPL himself Salah (13.7). With the upcoming double and the borderline impossibility of him blanking he is a must pick.
Palmer (11.4) hasn’t been in the best shape lately, I am however confident that he will turn it around. If you are short on funds I actually wouldn’t mind going with someone else here - he has lost must pick status.
Mbeumo (7.8) really showed up all the doubters - regarded as essential in the beginning of the season he quickly fell out of favour. Now however he seems to be back to his scoring self, and with incredible fixtures coming up I think he should be in your team!
Our second Crystal Palace pick is I. Sarr (5.8) who’s been putting up a decent amount of returns with the numbers to back them up. Excellent value at 5.8m.
Dibling (4.5) should be ok for the Newcastle match, a decent option for the bench.
Forwards
I’ll address the elephant in the room first - yes that’s Calvert-Lewin (5.4) featured in a Wildcard draft 😂 I didn’t think we’d end up here either - but he has scored an actual goal and putting up very strong numbers just in time for the double. I totally get it if you can’t go there, but I genuinely think he’s a decent option, as long as you don’t have to play him every week.
Isak (9.2) is an essential player to have in your team. His form has been incredible and he shows no signs of slowing down.
Wissa (6.2) too is playing an excellent season, and with a very nice run of fixtures coming up I’m confident that he will outperform his pricetag.
Conclusion
And that’s it for this week!
