FPL GW 29 Free Hit Team
Published: March 10, 2025
Introduction
Let’s get straight into the optimal FPL GW 29 Free Hit Team!
Gameweek 29 is an excellent week to play your Free Hit Chip, as you probably do not have, for example, much Manchester City in your team, and highly owned teams such as Newcastle and Liverpool are blanking.
Goalkeepers
Due to an excess of funds this gameweek we are going for two playing Goalkeepers, just to make sure.
Sels (5.0) of Nottingham Forest is our Number 1. Nottingham Forest are one of the best defences in the league and have one of the best fixtures you can have, away against Ipswich.
Ready in case of emergency is Onana (5.0). While Manchester United have not been as convincing defensively, Onana does get the saves in and Leicester away is a strong fixture.
Defenders
Leading the defensive line-up is Gvardiol (5.9). Manchester City have one of the better fixtures against Brighton at home, and Gvardiol is their best option. He is nailed and has incredible attacking threat for a defender (an xGi of almost 0.3!).
Joining Sels from Nottingham Forest is Aina (5.3). On top of being a part of a superb defense he has decent assist potential.
Ait-Nouri (4.8) from Wolverhampton is nailed and likes to get forward, so with them playing Southampton away he is in the team.
We have two Defenders starting on the bench - Mykolenko (4.4) of Everton and Wan-Bissaka (4.5) of West Ham. Both have decent attacking threat and good fixtures, so no harm done should one of our first choice defenders suddenly drop out.
Midfielders
B.Fernandes (8.3) has to feature, being the talisman of Manchester United, playing 90 minutes every game and being on penalties as well. Leicester is an excellent opportunity for him, and Manchester United have just played a surprisingly good game against Arsenal.
Speaking of Arsenal, Martinelli (6.5) has just returned from injury and should be in the starting lineup against Chelsea, who are not in good form right now.
Another Free Hit no-brainer is Bowen (7.5) of West Ham. He is on penalties and playing as number 9.
Mbeumo (8.1), Brentfords main man, is of course in the starting lineup with a decent matchup against Bournemouth away.
The lone midfielder on the bench is Kluivert (6.1) of Bouremouth. There honestly isn’t much between him and Semenyo, so feel free to get whichever you have a gut-feeling will do better. In terms of statistics they are incredibly close, but Kluivert is on penalties.
Forwards
A prime opportunity for gaining rank this week is Haaland (14.7) of Manchester City! Not featured in most teams anymore due to his price and Salah’s outperforming him for less money, getting him in on your Free Hit and captaining him can give you an outsized return.
Wood (7.1) obviously cannot be missing from the optimal squad either. He is on penalties and I doubt there’s any serious FPL player that has not yet noticed his tremendous season, massively outperforming expectations and xG!
Finishing off the team then is Beto (5.1) of Everton! He is hitting serious form, and West Ham has not had the best season defensively. He’ll do well.
Conclusion
And that’s it for this week!
